Ojos que no ven... Violencia escolar y género

Abstract

El propósito de este artículo es ofrecer un panorama sobre la magnitud y formas que cobra la violencia escolar y su vínculo con los ordenamientos de género. En la primera parte se presentan los datos que se obtuvieron mediante una revisión de las estadísticas producidas en México y otras partes del mundo sobre la violencia que enfrenta en sus casas y centros escolares una parte significativa de las poblaciones infantil y juvenil; es decir, comportamientos que se sufren en lugares en los que supuestamente deberían encontrar un ambiente amable que fortaleciera su desarrollo y propiciara la adquisición de las cualidades requeridas para una convivencia asentada en el respeto a las diferencias que particularizan a los seres humanos. Lejos de esto, la información muestra con claridad que aspectos tales como el sexo, la raza y la orientación sexual detonan con frecuencia conductas abiertas o sutilmente violentas. En la segunda parte de este trabajo se retoman los hallazgos de distintas investigaciones que nos permiten ver el peso sustantivo que adquieren órdenes sociales como el de género en el maltrato del que son objeto no sólo muchas mujeres, sino también hombres.

=== === ABSTRACT === === he purpose of this article is to offer a panoramic view of the extent and the diferent shapes of violence at school and its ties with the gender patterns. The first part presents the data obtained by reviewing the statistics produced in Mexico and other parts of the world about the violence that is faced at home and at school by most of the children and teenagers; i. e. behaviors that must be suffered in places where normally they should find a nice environment able to prop up their development and to encourage the acquisition of the qualities that are required for a kind of coexistence based on consideration for the diferences that make every human being unique. On the contrary, the gathered information shows clearly that aspects such as gender, race and sexual orientation do actually detonate open or subtly violent behaviors. In the second part of this work the author gather the results of diverse researches that allow us to see the relevance of some social orders such as gender within the framework of the ill–treat suffered not only by many women, but also by men.
