Retratos da infância na cidade de Porto Alegre

Abstract

Retratos da Infância na Cidade de Porto Alegre é um estudo sustentado por um referencial interdisciplinar e analisa o entendimento das crianças sobre a cidade que habitam. A partir de uma perspectiva metodológica de inspiração etnográfica, o estudo acompanhou um grupo de nove crianças moradoras de três diferentes bairros da cidade de Porto Alegre. Elas foram convidadas a fotografar os lugares da cidade os quais consideravam importantes nas suas vidas, o que foi seguido de conversas gravadas e transcritas. A análise mostra que 1) A infância é um fenômeno híbrido, produzido na intersecção de aspectos biológicos e sociais e nas relações entre gerações. 2) As crianças não apreendem a cidade em sua totalidade, mas sim em fragmentos. Instituições sociais, tais como família e escola, medeiam a relação das crianças com a cidade. 3) As crianças criam lugares alternativos àqueles instituídos para elas na cidade, afirmando suas culturas de pares. 4) As crianças apresentam opiniões, preocupações e medos, o que evidencia a necessidade de serem ouvidas e de participarem das discussões sobre a cidade. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Portraits of Childhood in the City of Porto Alegre is an interdisciplinary study which analyses how children view the city in which they live. The study uses an ethnographical methodology, and describes the experiences of a group of nine children who live in different neighbourhoods of the city of Porto Alegre. The children were invited to photograph places they considered important in their daily lives, following which conversations with them were recorded and transcribed. The results of the study show that 1) Childhood is a hybrid phenomenon which is produced through the interaction of biological and social aspects, as well as inter-generational relationships; 2) The children have a fragmentary rather than an overall concept of the city. Social institutions such as family and school mediate the relationship of the children with the city; 3) The children create alternative spaces to those which are provided for them by the authorities, which reinforces their relationships with their peers; 4) The children manifest their opinions, worries and fears, which shows how vital it is to listen to them, and to allow them a voice in the debate concerning the development of the city in which they live.
